Dear Families
This week, we have been focusing on fostering an environment of respect, and our students have responded admirably. We implemented a double points week to encourage this and the response from our pupils has been truly commendable. Many points have been awarded, and we are delighted to witness their commitment to maintaining a clean and tidy school environment, particularly when utilising our school field. Mr. Croucher (who manages our social times) has expressed his gratitude for the students' efforts in keeping our surroundings pristine.
We are thrilled to celebrate the upcoming Barcelona trip, which will provide our students with an invaluable opportunity to broaden their cultural horizons and create lasting memories. I firmly believe that education encompasses not only academic excellence but also the cultivation of well-rounded individuals who are prepared to become responsible citizens. Our core value of excellence extends beyond academic qualifications, as we strive to nurture students who embody excellence in character and conduct. We want to make sure students can be the best version of themselves at all times as well as having the best qualifications. This is equally important, I hope you agree.
For our Year 11 students, we have important updates regarding their final examinations and the much-anticipated Year 11 Prom. Parents have received communication about the prom arrangements, which will be held at Shearsby Bath on Thursday, June 20th. Those who have purchased tickets should collect them from the reception area. Many have been collected already, but there are still some students who haven’t done so. They must collect them before their last day at school. I apologise for the error in communicating information that occurred this week about this, and thanks to the students and parents who respectfully pointed out our admin error which enabled us to correct it as soon as possible.
Next week, some of our Year 11 students will conclude their examinations. They have demonstrated exceptional resilience and dedication throughout this process, and we have high hopes for their success. This week and next are busy weeks for them. This week, some students had 3 exams in one day! This is, unfortunately, out of our control as exams are not scheduled by us. Those affected were incredible examples of resilient learners. Next Friday will be a heavy examination day for some students, with Geography in the morning and Physics in the afternoon. One last push is required! Upon the conclusion of their Physics exam on Friday afternoon, students will be dismissed from the school premises. For some, this will be their last day, and for some this may mean that they will leave school before 3.05pm. If you do not want your child to leave school earlier, please let your child’s form tutor know. Others sitting Triple Science Physics, it maybe a little later. For those with remaining exams the following week, such as DT, Food, or Further Maths, they are expected to attend school as usual the following week, and we have an amended timetable in place to prepare them for these final examinations. Please note, students are required to wear their school uniform for their examinations. We are very much believers that this keeps them in the correct mindset.
Finally, we cordially invite all Year 11 students to our final leavers' assembly, which will take place on Monday, June 24th, at 2 pm. This will be our last farewell to our superb Year 11 cohort, and we eagerly anticipate their presence. It is always an emotional day for all as we bid them goodbye (until results day on 22nd August!). Students can bring shirts to be signed after their final assembly, which seems to be the tradition these days! The assembly is likely to conclude around 3:30 pm for those arranging transportation for their children.
