Dear Families
As we approach the end of another successful academic year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the developments and improvements we have made, as well as share some exciting plans for the future. Many of the developments we have made have been as a result of feedback from parents and also students.
Enhancing Student Experience and Support
One of our top priorities this year has been to enhance the overall student experience and provide better support structures. To that end, we have appointed a full-time, dedicated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs. Ghani, to further strengthen our safeguarding provision. We understand that ensuring our students feel safe and happy is crucial for their ability to focus on learning.
We have also restructured our SEND provision to deliver a higher quality of education for our SEND learners. While there have been priority areas in the short term, we are committed to continuous improvement in this area. The parent workshops have been well-attended, and we look forward to hosting more of these in the new academic year.
In response to student feedback, we have restructured the school day, with tutor time now taking place at the start of the day. This change has been well-received by students, as it allows them to check in with their trusted tutor and adult, ensuring they are prepared for the day ahead.
Rewards and School Environment
We have introduced a new rewards system this year, which has been positively received by students. Rewards trips to Alton Towers and an inflatables day on Wednesday have been organised to recognise and celebrate good behaviours.
To enhance the school environment and make it a more attractive place to be, we have commissioned Wall Art in various parts of the school. Additionally, our kitchen is currently undergoing a complete rebuild, which should be ready for the start of the new academic year.
On Monday next week, work will begin on our new Sports Hall, with contractors arriving on-site to commence the build. This project will take the majority of the next academic year, and we will keep you updated on its progress. Certainly there are exciting times ahead!
Looking Ahead
In the upcoming academic year, we will continue our efforts to provide the best quality of education for our community. We acknowledge that there may be areas where we fall short, but we remain committed to listening and making improvements every day. We will never become complacent and will continue to strive to uphold the highest standards.
One of our priorities for the next year will be to establish regular parent forums on a range of topics. One particularly important topic will be the new guidance on working together to improve school attendance. While our school attendance is above the national average, there is room for improvement in this area. The guidelines within which we operate will be significantly different next year. Summer Break and Safeguarding
As we close for the summer break, please be mindful of the safeguarding information in the newsletter below, which includes a list of agencies that can provide support. Year 11 parents have been emailed information about the collection of GCSE results, and we look forward to seeing our Year 11 students on Thursday, August 22nd, from 8:45 am.
We eagerly anticipate welcoming all students back to school on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024.
Thank you for your continued support throughout this year, and we wish you and your families a restful and enjoyable summer break.
Mr S Greiff
